Located on Île Perrot, at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Saint-Louis, this heritage site is primarily an interpretation center. It features a magnificent windmill built in 1705. It is one of the last 18 windmills in Quebec, and one of only two still in operation today. Not far from the mill is the miller’s house, built in 1786-1787 and occupied by master flour-makers.
Guided tours and an interpretation center introduce visitors to traditional 18th-century life, and teach children about the grain harvest in New France and the milling process.
Parc historique de la Pointe-du-Moulin is also the ideal place for picnics, walks and nature observation. Its 12-hectare grounds feature a woodland with silver maple, red ash and American elm, as well as a variety of plants. A nature trail takes you to the shore, offering a view of Montreal.
