Parc de la commune (West) and Ruisseau Saint-Jean area

Multifunctional trail on the Saint-Jean Creek territory

Parc de la Commune Located on the shores of Lake Saint-Louis, this park runs along the west branch of the Châteauguay River and faces Île Saint-Bernard.
Parc de la Commune is the ideal spot for a picnic, with tables, benches and a children’s play area.
A one-kilometre multi-purpose trail runs through the park and is linked to the municipal bicycle network. Ruisseau Saint-Jean On the borders of Châteauguay and Léry, Ruisseau Saint-Jean floods a vast area in spring, to the great benefit of the fish that come here to lay their eggs.
This is the largest multispecies spawning ground on the floodplain of Lake Saint-Louis, and offers the greatest potential for Northern Pike reproduction.
Among the 25 species observed in these waters are largemouth bass and vermiculated pike, the latter considered rare.
This area becomes a vast larder for many bird species, making for fruitful observation.
On this territory, a large footbridge crossing a wetland is linked to the city of Châteauguay’s bicycle network.
