Inter-Centre Trail

Those who like to venture into the depths of nature will be delighted to discover this little hidden treasure. Mountains, forests and lakes form the backdrop to these landscapes, half of which criss-cross the Laurentian and half the Lanaudière regions. Montagne Noire (880 m) and Montagne Grise (760 m) offer two magnificent viewpoints over the entire region. Around the trail, you’ll find a number of alternative paths, such as the Grise trail and the Blanche mountain trail.

Activities

Hiking in summer, backcountry skiing in winter, this sumptuous trail leads into the heart of the Laurentians for a 2 or 3-day getaway. Day tours are also available in the Lac-Supérieur, Saint-Donat and Val-des-Lacs areas.

In winter, snowshoeing and hiking are prohibited on the Inter-Centre trail to avoid breaking the tracks made by skiers (the trail is not groomed mechanically). This includes the Montagne Blanche and Montagne Grise trails. However, there are other alternative trails for snowshoeing, such as the “Sentier du lac Bruyère” in the eastern sector and the “Sentier des randonneurs” in the western sector.

Hosting

Two refuges can accommodate 8 to 10 people each. These are the refuge de l’Appel opposite Lac de L’Appel, from which it takes its name, and the refuge le nordet on the northwest flank of Mont Grise in the Val-des-Lacs territory. They are open year-round, and firewood is available during the cold season. By reservation (mandatory), it is possible to stay in groups or share the huts with other hikers. Access is by foot in summer, and by ski or snowshoe in winter.

Secteur-Est at Chemin Régimbald, near Lac Archambault, in the municipality of Saint-Donat. Secteur-Centre by Lac du Roché at the end of chemin du Roché in the municipality of Val-des-Lacs. Sector West via chemin Le Nordet in the municipality of Lac-Supérieur.
