At 838 metres, Mount Kaaikop is the second highest peak in the Laurentians. At its foot lies the L’Interval outdoor base. This outdoor solidarity cooperative offers a multitude of activities and accommodation all year round.
A network of hiking trails stretching over 30 km covers the mountain, the surrounding forest and Lac Legault. The trail to the summit of Mount Kaaikop offers a 360-degree panoramic view. You can see Mont Noire, Mont Tremblant and even Montreal when the weather’s right.
There’s a sandy beach on Lac Legault for swimming and volleyball. Canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and paddleboards are available for rental.
In winter, Mount Kaaikop can be climbed by hikers. There are over 30 km of marked snowshoe trails, 30 km of groomed cross-country ski trails and 17.5 km of ungroomed off-trail cross-country ski trails. For alpine hiking, there’s a 2.8 km marked trail that takes you up the mountain and down off-piste through undergrowth. Skating and tubing are also available.
