Most of the lake is located in southern Quebec, in the Magog region of the Eastern Townships, but it also extends to the northeastern corner of Vermont.
It covers an area of 95 km2 and is 44 km long.
On the north shore of the lake, you’ll have access to the Rivière aux Cerises (and its marsh), which empties into “Magog Bay”. See Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerise. Lake Memphremagog offers a wide range of activities: swimming, fishing, water sports, gourmet or guided cruises and much more.
There are several beaches and boat ramps.
The region’s scenic roads are among its most beautiful.
They range from glimpses of Lake Memphremagog to breathtaking landscapes.
An ancient Amerindian legend also relates the presence of a mythical monster in its waters, the famous Memphré monster.
A lake creature said to resemble a sea serpent or plesiosaur comparable to the Loch Ness monster in Scotland.
Memphré was first sighted in 1816 by eight witnesses.
