On the territory of the Akumunan Biodiversity Reserve, located northeast of Saguenay and west of Forestville, lies the Bras-Pilote River, a branch of the Sainte-Margueritte River, which features one of the region’s most beautiful waterfalls: the 150-foot-high Bras-Pilote Falls, one of the region’s best-kept secrets.
The Bras-Pilote river is ideal for canoeing or kayaking down rapids, and provides access to magnificent wilderness camping sites. The most beautiful site is a hundred meters after the bridge. And half a kilometer further on, to the right, a trail leads to the Bras-Pilote waterfall.
To get to the site, you have to pass through the Zec Chauvin at Sacré-Coeur near Tadoussac. It’s best to get there in summer, as access is rather difficult, especially in spring.
