Wakefield Trails

View of the region: forest, hills and the Gatineau River from the Wakefield trails

The village of Wakefield offers trail networks on both sides of the Gatineau River. On the east side of the river, you can start the Karen Road trail from Fairbairn House, near the covered bridge. The west side of the river is adjacent to Gatineau Park. The Trans Canada Trail passes through the village of Wakefield along Mill Road and Wakefield Heights Road. Other trails pass near the MacLaren Cemetery, Wakefield School and Vorlage Ski Centre.

The trails are designed for hikers of all abilities and offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can also discover geocaching along the Great Canadian Trail.

In winter, on the east side of the river, an alternative circuit to Chemin du Vieux-Pont crosses a field that can be explored on snowshoes. On the west side, near Exit 28 of Highway 5, there’s a parking lot with access to a snowshoe and fatbike trail.

The trails are open all year round and free of charge!
