Gatineau Park

The park’s hilly terrain covers an area of 363 square kilometres and is dotted with several lakes. It lies between the Ottawa and Gatnineau rivers. It features a mixed forest with one of the greatest plant and animal varieties in Quebec.

It’s the ideal place for cross-country skiing. There are 200 km of groomed trails, including 100 km for skating. You can also snowshoe on 60 km of trails and camp or sleep in a refuge. For winter biking (fatbike), there are more than 28 km of moderate to challenging trails for cyclists accustomed to rugged terrain.

In summer, the area is ideal for walking, cycling and caving. At Lac Philippe, the Lusk cavern boasts 400 m of galleries carved out of marble. For cycling, there are 32.5 km of scenic, hilly routes. If you prefer to pedal through the forest, you’ll have access to 90 kilometers of mountain bike trails. And for hikers, there are over 165 kilometers of trails for all levels.

Lac La Pêche, with its several campsites and islands, offers canoeists between 25 and 30 km of shoreline. Bass fishing is also available. Meech Lake and Philippe Lake also offer beaches and camping facilities. For your activities, the park offers canoe, kayak, pedal-boat, bicycle, ski and snowshoe rentals.

Gatineau Park also boasts 10 km of horseback riding trails, accessible from June1 to October 31. Climbers, meanwhile, can take advantage of 5 climbing walls at 3 different sites. Ice climbing is available in winter, conditions permitting.
