Moulin des Pères site

Near the tourist information office, a hiking trail runs alongside the Joseph River.
Several amenities, including lookouts offering superb views of the river, picnic tables and history interpretation panels.
All of which allow you to relive the history of the Oblate Fathers on the Moulin des Pères site.
Aumond was also known as “Moulin des Pères”, a reference to the Oblate Fathers’ decision to build a sawmill here in 1861.
The first flour mill went into operation in 1868.
These mills were powered by the hydraulic energy generated by the dam built on the Joseph River.
This dam also provided electricity for the village from 1927 onwards.
Along the river is a 10-site campground with showers and toilets.
