Montauban Falls Park

This park runs along the Batiscan River for about 1 km. It features several waterfalls and cascades. A footbridge leads to an observation platform with a spectacular view of the ten-metre-high Chute du 9. Its name comes from the fact that it was the 9th portage for settlers coming up the river from Saint-Stanislas.

The hiking trail through the Park is part of the Sentier Montauban, a 17 km section of the National Trail. It leads 5 km further on to Mont Otis, whose summit rises to 325 m above sea level. You’ll have a superb view of the region. It then continues for 12 km to the Parc naturel régional de Portneuf, passing close to Lac des Pins. This route joins the Ours trail in the Lac Carillon sector.

The Bastican River rises in Lac Édouard and flows 198 km to join the St. Lawrence River at Batiscan. It flows through Réserve faunique de Portneuf, and Notre-Dame-de-Montauban is the first village it meets. The river is therefore ideal for canoe-camping enthusiasts. The 365 m drop from its source to its mouth creates numerous sections of rapids and waterfalls. These are a delight for white-water paddlers and nature lovers alike.
