Mont Morissette is located in the municipality of Blue Sea, 115 km north of Gatineau. This 400-metre-high, 589-hectare mountain offers breathtaking views. There are 12km of marked trails through a mixed forest landscape typical of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. The trails are ideal for hiking in summer and snowshoeing in winter.
A first trail leads directly to the top of the mountain, where a lookout point and a new observation tower offer magnificent views of Blue Sea Lake and the surrounding area. A small hut with wood-burning stove is available in summer and winter. A second trail takes you back down the mountain to the eastern end of the park, skirting the beaver pond before returning to the parking lot. To the south, a third loop trail leads to another of the region’s peaks.
The summit is also accessible via the carriage road that leads to the foot of the old fire tower, one of the few still standing in Quebec. Interpretation panels provide information on the history and highlights of forest firefighting since the 1930s. Quad riders and snowmobilers are permitted to use this service access.
