The Forêt-la-Blanche Ecological Reserve aims to conserve a wide variety of plant communities representative of the Outaouais region. This 2052-hectare territory is home to several rare old-growth forests that have undergone little disturbance, and also ensures the protection of six threatened or vulnerable plants, including the remarkable galéaris and the five-leafed ginseng.
The area is home to a wide variety of birdlife, including the Cerulean Warbler, a species likely to be designated as threatened or vulnerable, and a large heronry.
Designed by Les Amis de la Forêt La Blanche and approved by the Quebec Ministry of the Environment, the ecological reserve’s educational program introduces the general public and groups to the importance of protecting our natural heritage.
