This small mountain, which has existed for some 450 million years, hides a 27-kilometre network of trails in the forest that covers it. You can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, running, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the marked trails. Several special activities are organized by the Sentiers, and you can follow them on the Sentiers de L’escapade Facebook page.
Along the trails, 25 interpretation panels have been installed, providing information on the fauna, flora and, in some cases, the geology of the site. One of the trails climbs to the top of the mountain.
At around 220 metres, the panoramic view overlooks the river and its valley. In the distance, the peaks of the Adirondacks and the shape of Montreal Island come into view. On the mountain, you can spot several species of birds, black squirrels and white-tailed deer.
The Chalet d’accueil de l’Escapade is located at Parc Chartier-de Lotbinière, 15, rue du Boisé-des-Franciscaines, Rigaud.
