Located 80 km north of Trois-Rivières, Zec Tawachiche covers an area of 320 square km. It includes more than 128 lakes and four rivers, 72 of which are open to fishing. Brook trout is the fish with the widest distribution, but there are also lake trout, lake trout, smallmouth bass and muskellunge. The Rivière aux Eaux Mortes is a concentration area for waterfowl. This wetland is also home to moose. Wildlife-watching enthusiasts will be delighted!
In addition to hunting and fishing, you can enjoy many outdoor activities such as canoeing, kayaking, forest walks, mountain biking and wildlife observation. Climbing enthusiasts will love the cliffs at Lac Terrien. The area is also ideal for mushroom picking.
The Zec offers short-stay or seasonal camping. Cottage rentals are also available.
The main entrance is located near the mouth of the Rivière Tawachiche Ouest, in the Audy train station sector, 9.1 km from the intersection of Route 153 in the village of Hervey-Jonction. The second entrance to the Zec territory is located north of the Rivière aux Eaux Mortes, 25 km from Carignan.
