The Von Allmen multi-resource woodland in Saint-André-d’Argenteuil is managed by the municipality for recreation and wildlife habitat conservation.
Located between the Rivière du Nord and Route du Long-Sault (344), this small woodland of some 50 hectares boasts a wide variety of natural habitats.
In fact, while walking along the various trails, users can observe a marsh, a swamp, a silver maple grove, a hemlock grove, a sugar maple grove and some fallow land.
This combination of different habitats within a small area considerably enhances the site’s ornithological potential.
The presence of the Rivière du Nord and its banks is also a major asset for observing many species of aquatic and semi-aquatic birds.
One of the park’s main attractions is its 10-metre-high observation tower on the river’s edge.
From here, you can observe both birds and wildlife.
The network of hiking trails totals some ten kilometers.
It includes an interpretation circuit and a 100-metre-long suspended footbridge overlooking the Rivière du Nord.
In addition, the Véloroute d’Argenteuil, linking Saint-André-d’Argentueil and Greneville-sur-la-Rouge over a distance of 54 km, crosses the park with 6.5 km of its own right-of-way.
There is also access to a landing stage for non-motorized watercraft and fishing platforms on the Rivière du Nord.
Backcountry camping is permitted on site.
