This lake, with a surface area of 150 km², is a natural widening of the Ottawa River, which forms shortly before it reaches the island of Montreal. It occupies the area between the Carillon dam and the Grand Moulin dam. This corresponds to a length of 40 km, while its width can reach up to 7 km in places.
In summer, the lake is a delight for windsurfers, kayakers, yachtsmen and sailing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. At Oka National Park, the beach comes to life as bathers bask in the sun or dive into the lake waters.
Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy yellow perch, pike, bass, walleye and brown bullhead. Many other species live here, including bluegill, sunfish, malachigan, bonefish, rainbow smelt and muskellunge.
In winter, the lake becomes a paradise for ice fishing, ice kiting and many other activities.
The Lake of Two Mountains is bordered by the regional county municipalities or equivalent territories of Argenteuil, Deux-Montagnes, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Laval and Montreal. Access ramps are available in Deux-Montagnes, Oka, Carillon, Vaudreuil-Dorion and a number of other lakeside municipalities.
