A linear trail in the western Laurentians, Parc du Corridor Aérobique runs along an old railroad line linking the municipalities of Morin-Heights and Saint-Rémi-d’Amherst. Its 58 km route passes through dense forests, valleys and rural terrain, and offers magnificent scenery dotted with lakes and numerous watercourses. The trail spans the Rivière Rouge over a bridge where trains used to pass more than 125 years ago.
Made of crushed and compacted stone, with an average gradient of 4%, the trail is considered intermediate for cyclists (hybrid or mountain bikes recommended). It can also be explored on foot, and is equally popular with hikers and bikers.
In winter, a 9 km section from Morin-Heights to Montfort is open and groomed for cross-country skiing. The Corridor is the backbone of Morin-Heights’ 162 km network of cross-country ski trails. You can hike or snowshoe from the Montfort pavilion (km 8.5) in Wentworth-Nord, where the trail borders Lac Saint-François-Xavier for 3 km and continues through the forest to the Laurel sector (km 14.5).
The Aerobic Corridor Pavilion is located on chemin du Lac Écho in Morin-Heights, but the trail is also accessible from each of the 5 other municipalities it passes through: Wentworth-Nord (Pavillon récréatif de Montfort), Lac-des-Seize-Îles, Montcalm, Arundel and Amherst.
In addition, a new on-road cycling route links the linear park “Le P’tit train du nord” to the Aerobic Corridor, passing through Piedmont, Saint-Sauveurs and Morin-Heights.
