Located north of the 49th parallel, the ÉcoGîtes du Lac Matagami offer three wooden chalets, two yurts and SPA and sauna facilities in a boreal setting on the shores of this majestic lake bordered by sandy beaches. Activities to discover with the seasons: Fishing, hunting, morel picking, moth hunting, mushroom picking (pholiotes, Matsutaké…), berry picking (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, wild cherries…), admire the spectacular Aurora Borealis with 360-degree views, explore the lake by canoe or kayak, etc.
In winter, ice fishing is a unique experience not to be missed.
Other activities include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
In native Algonquin, “Matagami” means the meeting of the waters.
Three major rivers, the Allard, Bell and Waswanipilarge, plus the Gouaul and Canet, flow into Lake Matagami to form this body of water some 14 km wide by 43 km long, occupying an area of 236 km2.
