Located in Natashquan on the Côte-Nord, the 13 km trail forms a loop that takes you through a variety of picturesque landscapes. The section along the Little Natashquan River is the most interesting. There are several lovely waterfalls to be seen, adding a touch of magic to the trail. The trail winds through stunted conifer forest, rocky outcrops, tundra plain and riverbanks. Spruce, larch, lichen and moss accompany you on your walk.
Natashquan residents tell us that this trail has been used for thousands of years by the Innu, who used it to travel to the territory. Although the trail has no major changes in elevation, its main difficulty lies in its length. Approximately 8 kilometers are along the river, while the remaining 5 kilometers are on a dirt road and Route 138.
For a shorter, more enjoyable experience, I suggest starting north of the trail and descending along the river, thus ending your hike inside the village. In season, you can pick wild berries along the trail.
