The Daaquam River runs through the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region. It rises in the Monts Notre-Dame (hills in the Appalachian chain) in the municipality of Lac-Etchemin, and flows 48 km to northern Maine in the USA. The river is ideal for calm-water kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding.
In the municipality of Saint-Just-de-Bretenières, Daaquam Outfitters offers many services, including single and double kayak rentals, as well as a shuttle that will take you down nearly 15 km of the Daaquam River. Fishing enthusiasts can tease speckled trout in three small lakes or catch muskellunge in the river.
In winter, you’ll have access to 6.5 km of groomed trails for cross-country skiing, 4.5 km of groomed trails for snowshoeing and 5 km of groomed trails exclusively for fatbikes. The outfitter also offers dog sledding and sleigh rides. Cross-country ski, snowshoe, fatbike and snowmobile rentals are available.
