Duchénier Wildlife Reserve

Located 20 km south of Rimouski, the reserve covers an area of 273 km2. It boasts exceptional forest ecosystems, including the ancient Duchénier, Lac-des-Baies and Rivière-Cossette forests. Its growing moose population, wildlife and numerous bodies of water with high wildlife and fishing potential make it a paradise for hunters and anglers alike.

More than 80 bodies of water are accessible for native speckled trout fishing or on stocked lakes. Wade fishing is possible on the Rivière Rimouski, Rivière Touradi or Rivière Blanche. Several packages for moose, bear, white-tailed deer and small game hunting.

Outdoor activities

For hiking enthusiasts, the Canyon des Portes de l’Enfer area boasts four trails. They total over 20 km and are accessible to all. The reserve also offers a canoe circuit divided into two sections. In the southern sector, the circuit covers Grosses-Truites, Croches and Lâche lakes. The northern section covers Lac aux Cèdres, Lac à la Perche and Grand Lac Touradi. Some lakes require portages of 50 to 600 metres. You can spend the night in rustic campsites along the way.

Hosting

The reserve offers accommodation in four-season cottages. A rustic tent campground has been set up five minutes from the Canyon sector.
