Located in northern Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Lake Abitibi covers an area of 931 km2, straddling the border between Quebec and Ontario.
It boasts some 200 beaches and 900 islands and islets in its shallow waters.
The municipalities of Roquemaure and Clerval are located on the shores of the lake.
The latter includes Nepawa Island.
It is linked to the other shore by a covered bridge built in 1946 and measuring 52 meters.
It’s the only island in Quebec linked by a covered bridge.
At the west end of the island, there’s a boat launch.
Please contact the municipality of Clerval for more information on access to the ramp.
Every year in winter, you can take part in La traversée du lac Abitibi.
A 100-kilometer cross-country ski and pulka race over 5 days on the frozen lake.
