Bike path

Cycloparc PPJ

Description

Built on the former Pontiac Pacific Junction rail line, the Cycloparc PPJ bike path is relatively flat, pleasant and accessible to the whole family. Since the surface of the bike path is covered with a mixture of rock dust and gravel, hybrid or mountain bikes are highly recommended. The trail is also accessible to hikers. Hikers can follow the trail in 17-20 km segments between each of the five municipalities it passes through: Wyman, Shawville, Campbell’s Bay, Fort-Coulonge and Waltham.

The trail winds 92 km through the Pontiac, from Bristol in the east to Isle-aux-Allumettes in the west. Its agricultural and forest panoramas, wetlands, exceptional views of the Ottawa River and the small, authentic and welcoming communities it passes through make it a cycling trail rich in contrasts and discoveries.

Along the PPJ 1 trail, you’ll find recreation areas with at least a few bike racks, a toilet, a picnic table, benches and litter garbage cans.

Between the Ottawa River and the Laurentian Plateau, Cycloparc PPJ offers a unique concept combining a bike path and a nature park over more than 90 km in the Pontiac MRC.
