Boisé du Tremblay de Longueuil soon to become a wildlife refuge

Longueuil’s Boisé du Tremblay will soon be designated a wildlife refuge by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune du Québec. This status will ensure its ecological sustainability, which has been threatened for two decades by urban sprawl.

The request was submitted to Quebec City by the Service des parcs et des espaces verts of the Direction du génie de Longueuil. If this recognition is officially approved by the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife, it would be a great victory for environmentalists, notably Tommy Montpetit, who has been fighting for 15 years to have this 200-hectare area protected, and thus prevent the disappearance of endangered species such as the chorus frog.
