Mestachibo West
The Mestachibo Ouest trail links the village of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges to the Jean-Larose waterfall at the foot of Mont-Sainte-Anne. Most of the trail follows the course of the Rivière Sainte-Anne-du-Nord. The landscape is as rugged as the trail itself, but you’ll discover mature forest stands, several scree slopes and rocky ridges. At the halfway point, two lookouts await you, offering breathtaking views of the river canyon. In addition, two 70-metre-long suspension footbridges allow you to cross the Sainte-Anne River.
The trail can be done in 2 directions, either from the village church of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges (downhill along the Rivière Sainte-Anne), or from the Mont-Sainte-Anne ski resort (uphill along the river).
Mestachibo East
The Mestachibo Est trail links the village of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges with the village of Saint-Tite-des-Caps. It partly follows the course of the Rivière Sainte-Anne-du-Nord, but 120 metres higher up, which you have to climb for 1 km after leaving the footbridge over the river. The view is of the river below, with the Charlevoix mountains in perspective, including Mont Raoul Blanchard, the highest peak in the Laurentian massif. The trail leads to a municipal rest area near Saint-Tite-des-Caps. The arrival (or departure) point is located at the Sentier des Caps reception desk. There is a 2 km stretch on avenue Royale in Saint-Tite-des-Caps between the rest stop and the Sentier des Caps reception area, which is also the continuation of the long hike to the Charlevoix Massif and Baie St-Paul.
