Parc du Lac-Leamy

Access to Lac Leamy beach

With a surface area of 174 hectares, it is the largest urban park in Canada’s Capital Region. It is surrounded by Lac Leamy, the Gatineau River and the Ottawa River. It’s an excellent place for outdoor sports and leisure activities. The beach is supervised during swimming hours. There are two volleyball courts, a playground, a picnic area and concessions.

Important archaeological sites can be found at Parc du Lac-Leamy, proving that the area was inhabited 5,000 or 6,000 years ago. The northern part of the park is an exceptional place for birdwatching. More than 30 species can be spotted here.

The Centre de plein air du Lac-Leamy, managed by Ville de Gatineau, offers rentals of canoes, kayaks (single and double) and paddleboards. In winter, snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals are also available.

Access

The park is accessible by car from boulevard Fournier in Gatineau, on foot and by bike along the Lac-Leamy trail. It can also be reached by boat via the Lac Leamy navigation channel.
