With the Lac Édouard beach right in the middle of the park, it’s easy to get to from either St-Mathieu-du-Parc or St-Jean-des-Piles (about a 20-minute drive from both visitor centers). And a short drive along the Promenade road, which plunges us into the heart of nature with no sign of human civilization, adds to the feeling of being totally unplugged from our urban lives.
Lac Édouard beach strikes the right balance between nature bathing and the joyful bustle of lively places. On a hot day, don’t be surprised to run into a lot of people. To enjoy a book in silence, I suggest other, quieter spots such as the Lac Bouchard area.
The Lac Édouard area is also the starting point for a beautiful flat trail ideal for cycling (trail #9), as well as the Lac-Étienne hiking trail, ideal for children. 1.5 km long (approx. 1 hr walk), it runs alongside various aquatic environments and offers observatories with interpretation panels and telescopes.
In the small service pavilion, you can rent a canoe, a single or double kayak, or a stand-up paddle (SUP). Boat rentals include life jackets, oars and a safety kit.
