Since 2018, Percé’s entire territory has been recognized by UNESCO: on the coast, from Prével to Cap-d’Espoir, through the lands of Bougain-ville and Val-d’Espoir, not forgetting the territory of the Parc national de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé.
The Percé Geopark offers geology, adventure and thrill-seekers a unique opportunity to discover 500 million years of history. Most of the Geopark’s activities and attractions are located in the heart of the village. The Geopark’s mission is also to enhance tourist experiences throughout the region.
Let yourself be charmed by the interactive multimedia exhibition TEKTONIK. Discover 23 exceptional geosites with spectacular lookouts along the 18 km of Mont Sainte-Anne and Mont Blanc hiking trails. Guided hikes are available. A glass platform suspended 200 m above sea level gives you a spectacular view of the village of Percé. Experience the 230-meter-long zip line on the mountainside. On summer evenings, enjoy an outdoor screening of The Legend of Gluskap.
In winter, the geopark offers activities such as snowshoe hiking and ready-to-camp winter camping.
What is a Geopark
A geopark is a unified geographical area where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed according to a global concept of protection, education and sustainable development. A Geopark enhances the geological wealth of the sites in conjunction with all other aspects of their natural and cultural heritage.
What is a Geosite
A geosite is an “area” of geological and scientific significance, ranging from a few square meters to a few square kilometers. The geological character (mineral, structural, geomorphological, physiographic) must meet one or more exceptional criteria (valuable, rare, vulnerable or threatened).
