Les Chutes et Marais – Causapscal

Located 15 kilometers from Route 132 and the town of Causapscal, the Chutes et Marais site is situated on the banks of the Causapscal River.
More than 500 salmon are held in the Marais pit; this retention barrier protects the salmon until the spawning period in October.
Les Marais is classified as a sanctuary, and fishing is prohibited.
An interpretation center has been set up right next to the pond, and guides are on hand to answer questions and offer a variety of guided activities.
A powerful underwater camera is in constant operation to capture images of the salmon, which are transmitted in real time on a giant screen inside the center.
The Causapscal River Falls are 3.5 metres high.
The first salmon of the season can be seen crossing this obstacle from mid-June onwards, especially at dusk and in the evening.
A staircase leads down to the falls.
Picnic tables are available.
The International Appalachian Trail also crosses the site.
