The Windsor Powder Magazine is the oldest black powder factory in Quebec. Some of the remains can still be seen scattered along walking trails along the Watopeka River. La Poudrière also offers theatrical guided tours, an exhibition, a terrace, a boutique and much more.
In summer, there are over 20 km of hiking trails. In winter, there are 13 km of snowshoe trails and 12 km of cross-country ski trails.
Founded in 1864, in the wake of the American Civil War, the Windsor Powder Works produced black powder, an essential component of explosives. Until 1922, the town of Windsor lived to the rhythm of this dangerous industry.
