Parc national du Mont-Orford

A VALLEY BORDERED BY THE APPALACHIAN MOUNTAINS

Since 1938, Parc national du Mont-Orford has protected a representative sample of the Sutton Mountains natural region. A happy blend of waterways, forests, valleys and mountains, the park’s territory is made up of a variety of rich and diverse ecosystems, which we invite you to discover all year round.

STUKELY LAKE

Magnificent lake accessible for a multitude of activities. The water quality is top-notch and the panorama is superb!

LE MONT-CHAUVE

Follow this splendid trail to the bare summit of Mont Chauve, which rises to an altitude of almost 600 metres!

L’ARCANE DESCERISES

Take a rabaska out into the heart of the Cherry River valley, accompanied by an enthusiastic park ranger.

Walking tour

A prime hiking destination, the park offers over 80 km of trails. The Mont-Chauve trail is an excellent way to introduce the family to mountain hiking. For a more leisurely stroll, we suggest the Étang-Fer-de-Lance trail. It takes you through a maple grove to a lookout offering a magnificent view of a peat bog at the foot of the Mont-Orford massif. The long hike is possible thanks to the Sentiers de l’Estrie network, which crosses the park. Don’t miss the autumn hikes, when the sugar maples blaze with color!

Geocaching

Take part in a contemporary treasure hunt as you follow the trail. Geocaching is a great way to explore the park, its history and its natural elements. To take part, you need a GPS device or a smartphone with built-in GPS to navigate to a geocache. Each geocache is located within one metre of the park’s trails and infrastructure.

Nautical activities

Parc national du Mont-Orford proudly offers aquatic activities in places that are simply magical! Stukely and Fraser beaches are perfect for swimming, with their fine water quality, exceptional scenery and wide range of activities. You can also explore Etang aux Cerises by following the self-guided ecological trail in a canoe or kayak.

Winter activities

Whether you’re cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking on snow, you’ll be amazed by the beauty of the winter scenery. The Orford Cross-Country Ski Club offers a wide range of services and programs. For access to the Club’s trailer in parking lot P3 of Parc du Mont-Orford.
