Les Florent trails
The site is named in memory of Mr. Florent Côté, who cultivated plots of land at the summit of the Florent mountain. The route, linking Baie-Saint-Paul to Saint-Urbain, stretches over 18.2 km and offers 7 access points, giving hikers the pleasure of creating their own itinerary.
Along the way, you’ll cross an arched bridge over the Rivière La Rémy. Various viewpoints along the way, including an exceptional view of the Gouffre valley and the town of Baie-Saint-Paul, as well as the mountains of Parc national des Grands-Jardins and an old mining site.
Access points: Le Camping Le Genévrier at the western end; 3 access points on rang St-Jérôme at km 1.3 – km 3.1 and km 6.6; access via a 3 km trail from Maison Chez Laurent (intersection of routes 138 and 381); and at the western end, opposite the Centre de l’émeu de Charlevoix in Saint-Urbain.
Sentiers des Pointes
The 10.4 km trail begins in Saint-Urbain as an extension of the Les Florent trail. It crosses fields with the village, church steeple and mountains in the background. Winding through a variety of forest trees, it meets the ruisseau de l’Église and leads to a viewpoint overlooking a waterfall and a rocky notch. Further on, the trail climbs deeper and deeper into the boreal forest. Several footbridges have been built to cross swamps. One of them allows you to admire the work of the beavers. Shortly after kilometer 9, a panoramic view of the mountains and valley to the northeast opens up. The trail then descends to a rest area on Chemin des Pointes, then to the banks of Le Petit Bras stream, where a picnic area invites you to relax.
Rémy River Trail
The La Rémy trail is specially designed for young families or those looking for a short hike. Access is via a 200-metre section of the Les Florent trail, which has a steep slope; the rest of the 1.1 km route is easy. The trail winds along the Rivière Rémy to the sound of flowing water. Picnic tables and a bench are set up halfway along the trail for a pleasant stop. You can access the trail via rang St-Jérôme, where a roadside parking area has been set up.
Access points: at the south end opposite the Centre de l’émeu de Charlevoix in Saint-Urbain, and at the north end of the trail at the Chemin des Pointes rest area.
