La Cité de l’Or – Bourlamaque mining village

The Corporation du village minier de Bourlamaque, a non-profit organization, was incorporated on December 16, 1980.
The Corporation’s mission is to protect, enhance and promote the historical and heritage sites of the Bourlamaque Mining Village and the former Lamaque mine through high-quality activities.
La cité de l’Or, a historic mining heritage site par excellence and a major tourist attraction in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, offers a unique concept of guided tours of Quebec’s only visitor-accessible gold mine, 300 feet (91 metres) underground.
At the surface, you can discover the way of life of families of yesteryear by visiting the mining village of Bourlamaque.
You can also visit the old mine buildings to learn more about the workings of the mine.
In addition, a temporary exhibition is presented in the old mine’s drying room.
