Chute du diable section of the National Trail

Description

The Chute du Diable trail starts at the Lac en Croix parking lot and ends opposite the Auberge du Trappeur.
From the parking lot, a good climb awaits the hiker to reach a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the lake, before descending again.
After a few kilometers of walking, another unobtrusive viewpoint offers a glimpse of La Mauricie Park’s Lac Wapizagongue outlet.
From here, a steep descent leads down to the Shawinigan River in the valley.
A lean-to shelter was built a few years ago to accommodate walkers.
The lean-to is located practically in the middle of the route and close to the waterfall, allowing you to sleep to the sound of the water’s music.
From the valley floor, it’s back up the other side to reach the plateau that leads to the parking area opposite the Auberge du Trappeur.
This last section is about 5 km long.
Note: The Lac en Croix parking lot is open 3 seasons only.
