Véloroute des Draveurs – Gatineau Valley Linear Park

Description

The Gatineau Valley Linear Park, named Véloroute des Draveurs by Outaouais Tourism, begins in the village of Low, some 50km north of Gatineau, and ends in the town of Miniwake (to the north). It follows the route of an old railroad line over a distance of 72km. It is also a section of the Trans-Canada Trail. Its surface consists mainly of stone dust.

The Véloroute des Draveurs winds through a variety of ecosystems, including marshes, lakes, rivers and beautiful forests. Between the municipalities of Blue Sea and Messines, the trail skirts the magnificent Blue Sea Lake, where you can take a refreshing dip. A number of rest stops and parking areas have been set up along the way. This is a trail particularly suited to long-distance cycle touring.

From Low, you can park your car at Parc Siskin or at the Bureau d’accueil touristique, open from June 20 to September 5. At the north end, in Maniwaki, the trail starts at rue Cartier, at the corner of rue King, near the Maison du tourisme at 186 rue King.

For more information on services such as food and lodging, please refer to the towns and villages the trail passes through: Low, Gracefield, Blue Sea, Messines, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg Algonquin Reserve and Maniwaki.

The municipality of Blue Sea also offers an 85km road circuit between Blue Sea, Gracefield and Cayamant, which includes a loop around Blue Sea Lake. Lac-Sainte-Marie invites you to enjoy a 40km round-trip from the bike path at Kazabazua. See links below.
