Jarrets noirs trail
Description
Built in 2006, this paved bicycle path stretches for almost 20 km between the municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Pins and the town of Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. It links four magnificent parks along the Chaudière River, allowing you to discover the splendour of the Chaudière Valley.
The Jarrets noirs trail is a section of Route verte #6 (Véloroute de la Chaudière linking Charny to Saint-Georges). The starting point is the Parc du Pont couvert à Perrault in Notre-Dame-des-Pins. Classified as a historic monument, the covered bridge at Notre-Dame-des-Pins is the longest in Quebec and the second-longest in Canada. The park features a magnificent rest area with a souvenir stand, children’s playground, walking trail, picnic area and other amenities.
Along the river, the trail passes through Parc de l’Île Pozer and Parc Veilleux, then through Parc des Sept-chutes, with its majestic woodlands, magnificent hiking trails and observation points. Finally, the trail ends at Parc du barrage Sartigan in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. Here you can admire the imposing structure that controls the springtime mood swings of the Chaudière River. Parking, a picnic area, a boat jetty and a navigable body of water are just some of the amenities on offer.
