Shared between the Outaouais and Laurentian regions, Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle is characterized by its geographical position, making it the southernmost wildlife reserve in Quebec. The rich, diversified vegetation creates an ideal environment for wildlife observation, and offers highly attractive sites for outdoor activities such as sport hunting and fishing. The area is home to large populations of white-tailed deer, moose and beaver. The numerous bodies of water in the wildlife reserve are mainly inhabited by brook trout (speckled trout) and lake trout (lake trout).
Located near a large sandy shoreline north of Lac Echo, Lac Echo Campground has 50 serviced sites and 9 ready-to-camp sites. Each site includes a fire pit and picnic table. The campground has a full sanitary block with showers. On-site: canoe, kayak, pedal-boat, paddleboard and bicycle rentals.
