The Saint-Félicien Zoo was founded in 1960 on the initiative of Ghislain Gagnon. Today, its surface area covers 485 hectares, on which nearly 500 animals representing 75 different species are presented. In summer and winter alike, visitors can explore 4.5 km of hiking trails, or board the screened train to admire wildlife in its undisturbed element.
The trails are divided into seven sectors: Arctic Tundra, East Asia, Laurentian Forest, Mongolia, Rocky Mountains, Ethiopian Plateaux and La Petite Ferme. It’s a kind of integration into boreal biodiversity. Zoo sauvage animals live in an open environment, often cohabiting with other species and in habitats that resemble their natural environment as closely as possible.
