The Garden of the Glaciers, located on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in the heart of the Manicouagan-Uapishka World Biosphere Reserve, promises a unique encounter with the last ice age and climate change.
“L’Aventure boréale, 20,000 ans sous les glaces”, the Garden of the Glaciers multimedia experience, is a multisensory virtual adventure that takes you to the heart of the glacier theme.
You’ll feel the 4 km-thick Laurentide ice sheet beneath your feet: icy cold and emotion guaranteed.
To complete the experience, the Garden of the Glaciers offers a corridor of alcoves and an exhibition entitled “Des Glaciers et des Hommes” (Glaciers and Men) from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in France, as well as a visit to the Valley of the Seashells, a unique place in the world.
Discover this age-old natural amphitheatre, where you can feel the purity of millions of shells stacked on top of each other over the last 10,000 years.
This exceptional geological site will draw you into a post-glacial whirlpool responsible for the immersion of the territory by one of the five ancient seas recorded in Quebec, the Goldthwaith Sea.
The fossil shell deposit is characterized, among other things, by its soil composition – a purity rate of 90% and a height of ten meters.
The guided tour will enable you to learn more about this unusual phenomenon through excavation and identification activities.
