Cascapedia River

The Cascapedia rises in the lake of the same name near Mont-Albert.
The first section, upstream, features rapids suitable for experts.
The second section runs along the Gaspésie park road, making it safer, and ends its course in the Baie des Chaleurs.
The rapids are numerous, short and relatively easy.
There is only one long rapid, classified R-2 at the beginning and R-3 at the end.
Portage is possible to avoid it.
What’s more, it’s wide enough for easy navigation. In early July, this river is a real gem for river rafting, despite being less well known than the Bonaventure River. Note that there are no courses or guide services available on this river.
Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Pointe Taylor Park (tel. 418 392-7722) in New Richmond.
You’ll need to be able to transport the craft yourself.
