Located in the Eastern Townships, in the Coaticook MRC, the Hereford Community Forest is a large private forest managed by and for the community. A community forestry and integrated management project unique in Quebec.
Here you’ll find Mont Hereford, the third-highest mountain in the Eastern Townships at 875 metres. From its summit, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of mountains, lakes and the American valley.
Hiking trails
Mont Hereford offers 6 km of hiking on the Neil-Tillotson Hiking Trail. The hiker will be accompanied by streams, the spectacular Chute à Donat and the ever-present scent of balsam fir. They’ll also be seduced by its birdlife, as Mount Hereford is identified as an ornithological site. Visitors will also have the opportunity to cross a variety of forest environments, starting with the maple grove, then the coniferous forest and finally the boreal forest.
We’ll have access to the summit of Mount Hereford with a 360-degree panoramic view. The American valley unfolds with its lakes and mountains. A picnic table welcomes hikers for a gourmet break.
Access is free, and in winter it’s open to snowshoeing and off-piste cross-country skiing (intermediate level). Special features: dogs allowed on leash.
