Rivière Noire Nord-Ouest – Appalachian Park

Rivière Noire Nord-Ouest in Appalachian Park

Once used as a log drive, the Rivière Noire Nord-Ouest is a magnificent 30 km meandering river that includes Lac Talon upstream and Lac Frontière downstream. The river is rated A for its unspoiled wilderness.

The river offers a 32 km canoe route (river levels fluctuate according to precipitation). There are several rest stops and five portage trails. You can also visit another tourist attraction that is the pride of the local population: the Défricheurs covered bridge, built in 1936.

A number of hiking trails, including Portage 6 and Beauregard 12, offer access to and views of this charming river.

Parc des Appalaches’ main reception is located at 105 rue principale in Sainte-Lucie-De-Beauregard. Open year-round, various services are also offered in winter, including snow scooter rentals (reservations required).
