Located in the heart of Rimouski, these three hiking trails, each about five kilometers long, will give you the opportunity to discover the maritime environment.
The first, the sentier du Littoral, starts at the mouth of the river. It takes you through woodlands and along salt marshes to Rocher Blanc. The trail is dotted with interpretive panels on coastal habitats and poetic stones carved in tribute to the river. It’s perfect for cycling and is also accessible to people with reduced mobility. In winter, the bike path becomes a cross-country ski trail. The pedestrian route remains accessible for winter walking.
The other two, L’Éboulis and Le Draveur, have several sections. Some are multifunctional, while others are more hilly for pedestrians and mountain bikers. Both trails are accessible from Beauséjour Park or the William-Price Lock. They run along both sides of a salmon river. They offer exceptional scenery and are linked by footbridges that allow you to loop them. In winter, there are sections for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
A small circuit of bird feeders and four observation posts provide birdwatching opportunities. Depending on the season, snow geese, passerines, ducks, shorebirds, beavers, foxes and muskrats regularly come to greet hikers.
A hebertism course has also been laid out in the Rue des Braves area.
Access
There are two main access points. The first is at Parc Beauséjour for the L’Éboulis and Le Draveur trails. The second is at the mouth of the Rimouski River on rue des Berges via boul. St-Germain (Route 132) for the Littoral trail. For the latter, there are two other access points with parking located on Rue des Braves and at Plage du Rocher Blanc.
