The trail is located in the Rivière-à-la-Pêche sector of La Mauricie National Park. The first 2.6 km follow the same route as the Lac Solitaire and Ruisseau-Bouchard trails. The Lac-du-Pimbina trail is the longest loop of these three trails, taking around 3 hours 45 minutes to complete (between 4 and 5 hours with stops).
The trail begins with a good climb that leads to a viewpoint of the Rivière Saint-Maurice, then to a second viewpoint of Lac Solitaire. After the first 2.6 km, the trail skirts Lac aux Chevaux. A short climb leads to a beautiful viewpoint over Lac Benoit. Then it’s back down to Lac du Pimbina. Past the lake, the loop returns in the direction of the start, passing close to Lac Bouchard. The route skirts streams and waterfalls.
