SIA national park in Forillon

Description

Route of the International Appalachian Trail in Forillon Park.
This segment of the IAT begins at Rivière-au-Renard and ends at Cap-Gaspé, the land terminus of the Appalachian chain.
High mountains, ridges, bay and peninsula are all part of the landscape that accompanies you along the way.
With a total distance of 45 km, it crosses the national park from west to east.
The Forillon segment is divided into two sections: the backcountry and the peninsula.
The backcountry, a 36 km stretch, links Rivière-au-Renard to Grande-Grave.
It is the most rugged and, above all, the wildest part, due to its remoteness and lack of developed structures.
It includes three wilderness camping areas and a few lookouts.
This is black bear and moose country.
Located between Grande-Grave and Cap-Gaspé, the peninsula section is undoubtedly the most spectacular and, above all, the most accessible.
Its relatively short distance (9 km) makes it very popular with less experienced walkers.
