Chute-aux-Galets

20-metre waterfall, Shipshaw River and 5 km of linear trails with nature interpretation. The site offers two routes. The first, an easy 1.2 km mostly on boardwalk, follows the river to a lookout point. It offers a view of the waterfall and the Chute-aux-Galets dam, which controls the river’s water level. The second, intermediate-level route is rather narrow and follows the river for 3.8 km. A map of the site can be consulted on site.

Local businesses also offer activities on the Shipshaw River. These include rafting and tobogganing.

Access

From Chicoutimi, take boulevard Sainte-Geneviève (route 172 west), turn right onto boulevard Martel and drive for about 27 km. In the center of Saint-David-de-Falardeau, turn right onto boulevard Desgagné and drive to the end. Turn left on 4e Rang and continue for 8 km. Follow the signs for the Shipshaw River Trail. The trail begins on the other side of the small bridge.

Trilobites, now extinct marine arthropod fossils, can be seen on the pebbles.
