Bois-de-Liesse Park is located on the banks of the Rivière des Prairies. Its 159-hectare territory includes the century-old Bois-Francs forest of silver maples and willows. The park is criss-crossed by Bertrand Creek. Then there’s Pitfield House, with its pond and flower gardens.
A curiosity in the park is the Japanese footbridge. Mounted on stilts, it runs from one side to the other, rather like a labyrinth. According to an Eastern belief, this is the way to avoid evil spirits, who take the straight path. The practical side of the footbridge is that it prevents trampling of the most fragile undergrowth.
There are 7 km of cycling trails, 12.2 km of hiking trails and a 1.5 km interpretation trail. Here you can observe red fox, American beaver, map turtle, umbrella butterfly and many other birds. In winter, there are 16 km of cross-country ski trails, 6.5 km of snowshoe trails and 4.4 km of walking trails.
