Located in St-Lazare near a residential area, the Tourbière-du-Bordelais Nature Park is a 10-hectare wetland that has been protected since 2002.
The St-Lazare peat bog has only been accessible to the public since 2008, following the construction of 670 metres of boardwalks and the installation of signage.
A peat bog is an environment where water has accumulated over thousands of years.
Rare plants can be found here, as well as plants that would not otherwise grow in this region.
Sphagnum moss is abundant.
You’ll see rhododendrons, orchids, ferns, Labrodor tea and insectivorous plants.
It’s also a great place for birdwatching.
Spotted salamanders and several species of frog are present.
Several species of spider live here too.
