Pointe Saint-Gilles woodland

Boardwalk near the pond

Located in the heart of Baie-Comeau, the Boisé de la Pointe Saint-Gilles offers 11 kilometers of trails dotted with rest stops, sculptures, pyrographed wooden panels, Lafontaine fables and small culverts. In short, it’s a feast for the eyes. This 175-hectare green space runs alongside the majestic St. Lawrence River, and within a square kilometer, you’ll find an urban, forest, marine and lake ecosystem. To the delight of walkers, you can see and hear harbor seal haulouts and other species such as goldeneyes, Barrow’s goldeneyes and great blue herons from the edge of the cliff.

The woodland contains a wide variety of plant, fungal and shrub species, as well as all the tree varieties typical of the region. The coastline of Pointe St-Gilles has been designated a Zico site (Zones Importantes pour la Conservation des Oiseaux).
