The Ouareau Forest Foothills sector provides access to two sections of the national trail. To the east, the Contreforts trail heads towards Saint-Côme. To the west, the Massif trail passes through the Pont Suspendu sector to the Massif sector. These total over 40 km of trails. You’ll also have access to the Lac Blanc Viewpoints Loop, which consists of hiking the Contreforts trail from km 1 to km±3.5, returning to the parking lot along the blue-and-white-marked trail. The view of Lac Blanc and the mountains to the north is truly spectacular.
On the 1st Lac du Castor, you can enjoy water sports such as canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. With the cliffs of the Sentier des Contreforts in the background, the setting is well worth the detour! Canoe, wakeboard, paddle and PFD rentals are available on site. For climbing enthusiasts, there are the walls of Lac du Castor and Lac Blanc.
Bordered by the 1st Lac du Castor, the Contreforts sector campground offers a total of 29 sites, 15 for tents or RVs and 14 for tents only. The campsite is unserviced, but dry toilets are available on site.
Other entrances: Grande-Jetée Entrance, Grande-Vallée Entrance, Massif Entrance and Suspension Bridge Entrance.
